Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course

Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course was built in 1962. This is the older amongst the two courses. The name was changed from the original “Royal Ka’anapali” to “Ka’anapali North” in 1967, and was again changed back to “Royal Ka’anapali” in 2007. An extensive renovation was carried on in the course in 2006.

Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed this beautiful golf course. Royal Ka’anapali is also commonly known as “Tournament Course” since 1982-85 LPGA events hat were hosted by Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course and also the Seniors Golf Tour 1988-2000.

The lush Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course is 18-hole and 71-par course with all possible amenities like club rentals, golf pro shop, driving range, snack bar, and golf lounge are available. The Blue course is 6700yards, White course is 6267yards, Gold course is 5839yards, and the Red course is 5016yards in the Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course.

The sea-level holes are designed lower than the highway with a perfect oceanfront green at no.5. The middle holes are on the cons over the highway level. The course has been wonderfully planned with extremely munificent green and fairways which are perfect for 2-putt thanks to the illusory ripples and Bermuda grass. The varying trade winds of the tropic play an important role in the sudden game change. The 18th hole is the most appreciated hole of the course. The entire set up with water body on the left hand side from the tee position to the green and the wind helping push the ball from left side to the right side, this hole is a fantastic one to play and is a magnificent one of its kind in the entire West Maui.

Ka’anapali Kai Golf Course

Ka’anapali Kai or Ka’anapali South Course is said to be easier course to play since the very opening of the course in 1967. The course was thoroughly redesigned in 1977 but was still considered to be the easier one. In 2005 the course underwent another renovation by Robin Nelson, making it even more desirable to play. The greens at the Kai are much more effortless.

The redesigned course has been based on the natural hole-defining elements like lava rocks, planting of coconut palm and Norfolk pine, canals, and other ditches. Even two new forward tees were introduced to the more appealing holes for the beginners.

The Ka’anapali Kai Golf Course is 18-hole and 70-par course. This is perfect for starters to set hand in the trade winds of the tropic, and for the pros it can be a good warm-up session here. Given the course’s more conical fairways it is easier for the beginners to take their shot.

The Ka’anapali Kai Golf Course provides might be a better option for the beginners to play but is as pro as all other great golf courses in terms of amenities availability. Club rentals, golf pro shop, driving range, snack bar, and golf lounge are one of the best in the industry to find here. The Lava course is 6388yards, Sand course is 6010yards, Fern course is 5563yards, Hibiscus course is 4522yards, and the Red course is also 4522yards.
